Be happy, be here
Perhaps in a world filled with turmoil and uncertainty, finding joy and content may be an infinitely difficult task. That is why I would like to share some of my strategies for finding yourself in the musk of it all.
“For an Impressionist to paint from nature is not to paint the subject, but to realize sensations." Paul Cezanne
Mental health is everyday a more and more important discussion. It is becoming a priority as it should be. As it is important to make mental health a priority in large corporations and companies so they have their employees in mind, we must not forget that mental health must be a priority for ourselves. Our bodies are our own corporations which we monopolize for ourselves. To have a body that runs swimmingly we must make sure our mind always has our mental health at it's forefront.
How to keep swimming?
Laugh all the time. Welcome mistakes. Try everything. Say yes. Think in a why not mentality. Have a yea, maybe attitude instead of a yea, right attitude. Imagine far beyond plausible, think pandemonium. Adventurous. Audacious. Courageous. Daring. Fearless.
The two words that stand between you and your next big idea .Emma Mcilroy. TEDxPortland
Remember that being courageous is a mindset. It does not have to be the act of sacrificing yourself for Henry the IV during the Hundred Years' War. It is doing something which requires a little bit more effort or which might scare you a bit. Such could be raising your hand in class, speaking your true opinion, engaging in an educated debate, introducing yourself to someone you do not know, making someone laugh, making the first move, making a conscious effort to love your body, being proud of your contributions, having confidence in your presence in a room... the possibilites for you to engage in a courageous attitude are endless. Choosing this path with liberate you. To be happy you must be kind to yourself. In a world of choices and confusion, finding your bliss should come often and easily.
"We live in a rainbow of chaos." Paul Cezanne
I have chosen to use quotes from Cezanne because of the mountain in the photo above is one which appears in many of Cezzane's paintings: Mount St. Victoire in Aix-en-Provence. He was one who was daring in his work but patient. He achieved progress, and is really all we are looking for at the simplistic level. To get better. To be happier. To be smarter. To be better.
Your own happiness is in your own hands. Our lives are not built with cement but rather more similarly resemble the wind. They are steady and perhaps the next minute swift and out of control. Finding joy and laughter within all the nuances and absurdities of one's conscious existence is vital to living with pleasure without interruption.
